OEM and ODM services
Lab Manufacturers China offers OEM manufacturing under a buyer's brand and ODM development to a buyer's requirement for selected laboratory equipment. The process runs from specification and sampling through pilot production to mass production and documentation. Minimum order quantities and lead times are to be confirmed per project.
What is the difference between OEM and ODM?
OEM (original equipment manufacturing) means we manufacture an existing or agreed design and label it with your brand. The buyer typically provides the brand identity, packaging requirements and any specification changes, and the product is sold by the buyer under its own name.
ODM (original design manufacturing) means we also contribute to the design. The buyer supplies a requirement, such as performance targets, size, interface, regulatory market and cost range, and we propose and develop the instrument. Depending on the agreement, the resulting design may remain exclusive to the buyer or may be added to our catalogue.
Most projects lie between the two: a catalogue model with modified accessories, software language, colors, control panel or capacity. Customization of core performance or safety-critical parts requires engineering review and may require retesting.
Not every product in the catalogue is available for OEM or ODM. The sales engineer will confirm feasibility after reviewing your requirement.
What is the OEM/ODM process?
A typical project has the following steps.
- Requirement definition: you describe the product, target market, performance, standards, quantity forecast and branding.
- Feasibility and quotation: engineering reviews the requirement, identifies a base model or a development route, and issues a written proposal with specification, sample cost, tooling if needed and schedule.
- Agreement: scope, intellectual property, confidentiality, exclusivity and quality terms are documented in a contract. We are willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement at the start.
- Sample development: one or more samples are built for your evaluation. Changes are recorded under revision control.
- Sample approval: you test the sample against the agreed specification and sign an approval record.
- Pilot production: a small batch checks the process, packaging and documentation.
- Mass production and inspection: units are built and inspected as described on our quality page, with per-serial test records.
- Shipment and support: export documentation, after-sales and spare part arrangements are agreed in advance.
Regulatory registration in your market remains the responsibility of the brand owner, and we can supply technical documents to support it.
What can be customized?
Common customization options for private-label laboratory equipment include the following.
- Branding: logo on the housing, control panel and display, nameplate text, packaging and manuals.
- Language: user interface, manual and quick-start guides in the languages you need.
- Hardware options: capacity, chamber size, rotor or accessory sets, colors, materials, connection ports and plug type.
- Electrical: voltage and frequency, such as 110 V / 60 Hz or 230 V / 50 Hz, and the plug for your country.
- Software: interface layout, report format, data export, and user management, subject to feasibility.
- Performance variants: a different range or accuracy class, where the platform supports it.
- Documentation: labeling and declarations to match the brand owner's quality system.
Changes that touch safety, such as pressure parts, heating elements or containment features, are reviewed against the applicable standards, for example IEC 61010-1 and any product-specific standard, and may require additional testing. Such cost and time are stated in the proposal.
What are the minimum order quantity and lead time?
Minimum order quantity (MOQ) depends on the product, the amount of customization and whether tooling or new software is needed. For branding and language changes on a catalogue model, the MOQ is usually lower. For new designs, it is higher. MOQ: to be confirmed per project.
Lead time includes sample development, your approval time, pilot production and mass production. It varies widely with complexity. Lead time: to be confirmed per project, and stated in the quotation.
First-time buyers can ask to start with a trial order to verify quality and logistics before committing to larger volumes. Sample and tooling charges, if any, are stated in the proposal.
What documents support an OEM or ODM order?
Documentation is prepared with the order and depends on the destination market. It may include the user manual and quick guide in agreed languages, a specification sheet, a factory test report per unit, a calibration certificate where relevant, a packing list, commercial invoice and certificate of origin, and technical files that help the brand owner prepare declarations for its market.
Certifications such as CE, ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 are listed as {Certification — to be confirmed}. The scope of each certificate, and who holds it, must be checked from the document itself. Send your project description to sales@labmanufacturerschina.com to begin.
